After multiple delays, Volvo is all set to launch the XC40 recharge on the 26th of July. The EV was supposed to be out last year but the launch got delayed as the chip shortage hit the industry. However, the XC40 is all set to launch now. Interestingly, the price of the XC40 was leaked a while ago on their official website wherein it was pegged at ₹75 lakh. We will have to wait till the 26th of July to see if this turns out to be true.

Powertrain
The Volvo XC40 Recharge is a sub-compact SUV, based on the standard XC40. Due to this, the EV’s exterior is similar to the standard XC40. The XC40 Recharge is ultimately based on the same Compact Modular Architecture platform. With two electric motors, The XC40 Recharge will deliver the output of 402hp and 660Nm of peak torque. And to provide the extra space the 78kWh battery pack is placed under the front seats. The new Volvo XC40 Recharge can go from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 180kmph. It has a WLTP range of 418 km. It offers 0 to 80 percent charge in just 40 minutes by 150kW DC fast charger while 0 to 100 takes eight to ten hours by an 11kW AC fast charger.

Key Features
The Volvo XC40 recharge will be full of new features like a new nine-inch Android-based infotainment system with Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Volvo’s connected car tech, through the ‘Volvo On Call App’, to pre-heat or pre-cool the car remotely. It will be equipped with techs like a digital driver’s display unit, dual-zone automatic climate control, four USB-C ports, a Harman Kardon stereo system, and a panoramic sunroof. It will also have additional features such as powered front seats with memory and Level 2 Autonomous Driving capability. The safety features of this electric SUV include four high-definition 360-degree cameras for parking view, a blind spot information system, lane aid, cross-traffic alert, and also a set of adaptive headlights.

This sub-compact electric SUV is made on the same design platform as XC40 although the front bumper gets an aggressive and slick touch. with the latest tech and classy look, the Volvo XC40 recharge will give tough competition to its rivals like the BMW i4 and the Kia EV6.
