Ultraviolette X 47 and F77 Now More Affordable With New Battery Subscription Plan

Electric bikes still feel expensive to many riders. The bike may look exciting, but the price often makes people step back. Ultraviolette is trying to change that with a new payment plan for its X 47 adventure motorcycle. With this move, the company is also becoming one of the first major electric motorcycle brands in India to introduce a Battery as a Service model.

The company has launched a Battery Flex program. This is a battery subscription model that was developed with Ecofy, a green focused NBFC. The aim is simple. Reduce the upfront price and make high performance electric bikes accessible to a wider group of riders. Enrolments for the Battery Flex program have already begun.

With this plan, buyers can purchase the Ultraviolette X 47 without having to pay the entire cost of the battery upfront.

Earlier, the X 47 was priced at Rs 2.49 lakh ex-showroom with full battery ownership. That price placed it close to similarly powered petrol motorcycles. Now, under the new model, prices begin from Rs 1.49 lakh. This is nearly a 40 percent reduction in upfront cost. The rest is paid as a monthly battery subscription starting from Rs 2,499.

The EMI runs for five years. After the end of the payment period, the battery ownership is transferred to the customer free of charge. The battery also carries a 5 year warranty under this plan.

Here is how the pricing works across variants:

VariantVehicle PriceBattery EMI
X 47 OriginalRs 1.49 lakhRs 2,499 per month
X 47 Original PlusRs 1.99 lakhRs 2,499 per month
X 47 ReconRs 1.99 lakhRs 4,016 per month
X 47 Recon PlusRs 2.49 lakhRs 4,016 per month
X 47 Desert WingRs 2.69 lakhRs 4,820 per month
F77 OriginalRs 1.99 lakhRs 2,678 per month
F77 ReconRs 2.49 lakhRs 4,016 per month

Battery cost depends on the selected plan and expected monthly usage. The base structure covers around 1000 km per month. Running cost works out between Rs 2.5 and Rs 4.8 per km depending on usage. According to the company, in many cases this can be lower than what riders spend on petrol every month.

The X 47 is available with two battery options. A 7.1 kWh pack claims 211 km of range. A larger 10.3 kWh battery promises up to 323 km on a single charge. Peak power stands at 40.2 bhp and top speed is rated at 145 kmph.

One of the major highlights is the radar based ADAS system. It is the first of its kind in this segment and adds an extra layer of safety support for riders.

According to CEO Narayan Subramaniam, the new pricing structure brings the motorcycle much closer to petrol bikes in the same performance category. He also stated that the Battery Flex model allows riders to access better technology and performance while keeping monthly operating costs under control.

With this move, Ultraviolette is attempting to make high performance electric motorcycles more practical to own while keeping the technology and riding experience unchanged.
