TVS Racing Hosts 8th Edition of its Young Media Racer Program

TVS Racing successfully concluded the selection round for the eighth edition of the TVS Young Media Racer Program (YMRP) at the Madras International Circuit (MIC). This year’s event saw the top 16 racers emerge from a competitive field of 39 young journalists, continuing TVS Racing’s legacy of fostering racing talent and promoting motorsports in India.

Since its inception in 2017, the TVS YMRP has provided a platform for young media enthusiasts to hone their racing skills in a controlled and safe environment. Participants in the program not only get a chance to experience the thrill of racing but also compete for the prestigious TVS One Make Championship, which runs concurrently with the Indian National Motorcycle Championship.

Highlights of the TVS YMRP 8.0:

  • Competitive Selection: From a pool of 39 participants, the fastest 16 riders were chosen to compete in this season’s races.
  • Comprehensive Training: The training academy’s Level-1 program included rigorous full-day sessions covering both theoretical and practical aspects of racing, conducted by TVS Racing champions.
  • Racing Equipment: Selected racers will ride the race-spec TVS Apache RTR 200 4V throughout the season.
  • Safety Innovations: For the first time in India, TVS Racing introduced Alpinestars Airbags Tech Air 5 and FIM Homologated helmets, technologies used by MotoGP racers, to enhance participant safety.

Advanced Safety Gear:

Participants were equipped with state-of-the-art safety gear developed in partnership between TVS Racing and Alpinestars. This includes:

  • Helmets: FIM homologated 22.06 helmets with carbon fiber shells and aerodynamic designs that reduce drag by 4.54%.
  • Airbags: Featuring an active electronic system with six integrated sensors and AI-driven crash algorithms, the airbag deploys within 30 milliseconds during a crash, offering enhanced protection.

Legacy and Expansion:

TVS Racing has been a pioneer in Indian motorsports, introducing the One Make Championship (OMC) in 1994, which now includes categories for Rookies, Women, Media, and Experts. In 2022, TVS Racing expanded its reach by organizing the first TVS Asia One Make Championship. To date, over 3,000 participants have competed across various OMC categories, underscoring TVS Racing’s commitment to the sport.

The TVS YMRP has significantly enhanced the racing skills of more than 200 journalists over the years, with some alumni progressing to various racing formats.
