Tesla is set to launch the Roadster with CEO Elon Musk recently announcing the unveiling of the production version later this year
Musk, known for his bold claims, has asserted that the Tesla Roadster will boast extraordinary performance metrics, including a mind-boggling sub-1.0 second 0-96kph time.

Musk’s Vision
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Musk revealed that the initial vision for the Roadster had been “radically increased,” promising that “there will never be another car like this.”
This proclamation raises the bar for electric cars and hints at a revolutionary leap in performance capabilities.
From 1.9 to Sub-1 Second
The 2017 Tesla Roadster, with its original specifications, already set a high standard with a 0-100kph time of 1.9 seconds, a top speed exceeding 400kph, and an impressive claimed range of about 998km.
Musk, however, is not content with past achievements. He now asserts that the production version will accelerate from 0 to 96kph in less than 1.0 second, surpassing the already impressive 1.9-second mark of its predecessor.

Rocket Thrusters and SpaceX Collaboration
Elon Musk had previously hinted at an optional rocket-thruster package developed in collaboration with SpaceX, propelling the Roadster to 96kph in 1.1 seconds. This feature, if realized, would set the Roadster apart as a groundbreaking innovation in electric car technology.
Aim for 2025 Deliveries
While Musk aims for deliveries to commence in 2025, it’s essential to note the journey of the Tesla Roadster since its unveiling in 2017.
Initially slated for launches in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024, the project faced delays attributed to supply chain disruptions and extensive development efforts focused on a tri-motor powertrain and advanced battery technologies.

Accelerating Beyond the Competition
Musk’s claim of sub-1 second acceleration puts the Tesla Roadster in a league of its own. Comparatively, the Rimac Nevera, currently recognized as the world’s fastest-accelerating production car, boasts a 1.95-second 0-100kph time.
It’s worth noting that Tesla specifies acceleration times with “rollout subtracted,” potentially impacting the Roadster’s standstill acceleration.
Tesla’s Vision for the Future
Tesla continues to push boundaries, and the upcoming Roadster is poised to be a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation. Musk’s audacious promises and the potential technological marvels of the Roadster position it as a pivotal milestone in the evolution of electric vehicles.
