The Tata Safari and Harrier have secured a 5-star rating for adult and child occupant protection in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat-NCAP), an independent safety evaluation protocol specifically for cars in India. This makes the Safari and the Harrier the first cars to achieve a 5-Star rating in B-NCAP
The announcement of this accomplishment was made by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari ji. He emphasized Bharat-NCAP’s role as India’s independent voice on vehicle safety, benchmarked to global standards. Shri Nitin Gadkari ji commended Tata Motors for leading the way by being the first to secure the highest 5-star rating in this safety evaluation.
Expressing his views on the achievement, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., highlighted Bharat-NCAP’s significance in providing customers with a credible, objective score for evaluating the safety aspects of vehicles. He emphasized Tata Motors’ commitment to safety, stating that it is an integral part of their DNA.

- Electronic Stability Control as standard
- 3-point seatbelts in all rows
- Seat Belt Reminder for all passengers

- Seatbelts with Retractor, Pretensioner, Load Limiter (RPLL), and anchor pretensioner
- Reinforced cabin structure enhanced for symmetric crash performance and side pole impact
