Skoda Auto Volkswagen India’s sub-4-metre SUV, the Skoda Kylaq, has received a full 5-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP). This milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to engineering safer vehicles tailored to Indian roads.
The Kylaq achieved top scores for both adult and child occupant protection, making it the safest internal combustion engine (ICE) car in its segment. It secured 30.88 out of 32 points (97%) in adult protection and 45 out of 49 points (92%) in child protection. These results underscore Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s dedication to building vehicles that adhere to global safety standards while catering to domestic needs.
A Benchmark for Safety
Skoda Kylaq continues the safety legacy established by models like the Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, and Skoda Kushaq, all of which received 5-star ratings under Global NCAP’s stringent crash test protocols. It is the Group’s first vehicle to be tested under the newly launched Bharat NCAP program, which sets high standards for occupant safety in India.
In its frontal offset barrier test, the Kylaq scored 15.035 out of 16 points (94%), with a stable occupant compartment and footwell performance. It also earned 15.840 out of 16 points in the side-moving deformable barrier test for adult protection. For child safety, the vehicle achieved perfect scores in both the frontal and side tests, as well as maximum marks in the recommended child seat assessment.
