Piaggio Group Showcases New Models at EICMA 2024

The Piaggio Group is making headlines at the EICMA 2024 in Milan, presenting a wide range of new and revamped motorcycles and scooters across its key brands: Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Vespa, and Piaggio. Known for its heritage and diverse portfolio, Piaggio Group aims to appeal to both young riders and seasoned bikers with this year’s lineup, which features bikes designed for off-road adventures, urban commuting, and high-performance racing.

Aprilia Unveils Lightweight Tuono 457 and Off-Road Tuareg Rally

Aprilia’s 2024 lineup emphasizes versatility and performance, spotlighting the new Tuono 457, a lightweight naked sports bike targeting younger riders. Designed around the RS 457 platform, it offers a favorable power-to-weight ratio, featuring a 35 kW (47.6 hp) parallel-twin engine with 43.5 Nm torque, ideal for riders with an A2 license. Aprilia has equipped the Tuono 457 with Ride by Wire throttle, multiple riding modes, ABS, and traction control, aiming for an accessible yet high-performance experience.

For off-road enthusiasts, Aprilia presents the Tuareg Rally, an advanced iteration of the Tuareg model, inspired by the Aprilia Racing version that triumphed at the Africa Eco Race. It’s equipped with tube-type tyres, raised seating and handlebars, and a high front mudguard. With a dry weight of 199 kg and suspension upgrades, the Tuareg Rally is built for demanding terrains and extended off-road performance.

High-Performance Factory Range and 125 Line

Aprilia also unveiled updates to its Factory line, known for high-performance motorcycles with racing features. The updated RS 660 Factory comes with Öhlins suspension, aerodynamic wings for improved stability, and a more powerful 105 hp engine. The Tuono 660 Factory, designed for street use, includes similar enhancements for versatility on urban roads. Leading the Factory range, the RSV4 Factory continues as Aprilia’s flagship, featuring a 220 hp V4 engine and aerodynamic improvements inspired by MotoGP.

In addition, Aprilia’s four 125 models – the RS, Tuono, RX, and SX – have received updates. The RS 125 and Tuono 125 feature new electronics, including ABS and traction control, enhancing safety for new riders. The RX and SX models, meanwhile, incorporate new digital displays, full-LED lighting, and tailored equipment to handle road and off-road environments, respectively.

Moto Guzzi Introduces V7 Sport and Updates to V100 Range

Moto Guzzi, renowned for its classic Italian design, introduced the V7 Sport, a sportier version of the iconic V7 line. This model incorporates modern technology, including ABS, traction control, and cruise control. Retaining its distinct transverse V-twin engine, the V7 Sport is equipped with a double front disc brake, an inverted fork, and electronic throttle control.

Moto Guzzi also expanded its V100 range with the new Stelvio and PFF version, which includes advanced active safety features. This update signals Moto Guzzi’s commitment to blending tradition with innovation, appealing to riders seeking both classic style and modern performance.

Vespa GTS 310: A New Era for the Iconic Scooter

Vespa, a symbol of Italian style and urban mobility, introduced the GTS 310 at EICMA 2024. Equipped with a new 310 cc engine, it’s the most powerful Vespa to date, delivering 25 hp and increased torque. Designed to offer a more flexible ride, the GTS 310 incorporates 70% new engine components, including a revised stroke length. This evolution in Vespa’s design aims to enhance the performance without compromising the classic Vespa styling.

Piaggio Enhances High-Wheel Scooter Range

Piaggio introduced updates to its high-wheel scooters, the Liberty and Beverly, both of which have been redesigned for improved performance and user experience. The Liberty, available in 50, 125, and 150 cc engine options, now includes a digital color instrument panel and ABS for the 125 and 150 versions. The Beverly, equipped with a new 310 cc engine, delivers 27.7 hp, making it suitable for both city and longer rides. Piaggio also launched the Medley 200, designed for agile urban commuting with its lightweight build and advanced safety features, including ABS and Start & Stop technology.

Piaggio Group’s Global Performance and Market Position

Piaggio Group’s presence at EICMA underscores its leadership in the European two-wheeler market. In 2023, the company reported record sales of 559,500 units worldwide, generating nearly €2 billion in revenue. With an EBITDA increase of 9% and a net profit of €91.1 million, Piaggio Group continues to expand its market footprint globally.
