Mahindra Thar Gets A Silent Update

Mahindra has silently updated the Thar with a new logo and other small changes to the interior. The new Thar was revealed back on the 15th of August in 2020 and it became an instant hit after it went on sale in October 2022. This new update comes in after Mahindra recently deleted some features from the SUV’s lineup. Let’s take a look at what’s new:

The Thar now gets Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo which we’ve seen on the newer Mahindra SUVs like the Scorpio N. The new logo is seen on the alloy wheels, steering wheel, and remote key. However, it continues with the ‘Mahindra’ lettering above the grille. Other than this, the traction control and the hill descent control switches which were previously placed near the driver-side A/C vent have now been moved to the centre console. Additionally, the door lock/unlock button has also been added to the center console switch panel.

This makes the lower half of the center console of the Thar look similar to the one seen on the Scorpio N and XUV700 which also get a similar setup. Mahindra has also discontinued the Rocky Beige and Mystic Copper paint shades. The Thar is now available in Napoli Black, Galaxy Grey, Aqua Marine and Red colors. Mahindra also recently deleted some features from the Thar. Firstly, the front and rear bumper have now been finished in black instead of the previous metallic grey finish. The previous Czar AT tires have now been replaced by the Ceat Crossdrive AT tires. Apart from the exteriors, the interior loses out on lumbar adjustment for the front seats.

It also loses out on a fast-charging USB and it now comes with a single standard USB charger. The new Thar gets a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine which cranks out 130hp, 300Nm and is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional, Aisin-sourced, 6-speed torque converter. If you like petrol engines, the 2.0-liter mStallion motor is also on offer. It cranks out 150hp of power and 300 Nm (MT), 320Nm (AT) of torque.
