Mahindra Two Wheelers today unveiled the new Gusto 125cc scooter for the Indian market, thus further consolidating its presence in the scooter segment. Completely developed in-house at Mahindra two Wheeler’s state-of-art R&D Centre in Pune, the Mahindra Gusto 125 comes with a 125 cc engine and is available in four color options of Orange Rush, Bolt White, Monarch Black and Regal red. It’s notable that the event was only an unveiling and the price will be revealed at a later point at a proper launch ceremony slated for February.
The Gusto 125 is powered by a 125cc single cylinder engine that Mahindra has christened the M-TEC. Power output stands at 8.5 hp @ 7000 rpm while the peak torque is rated at 10Nm @ 5500 rpm. According to the official press statement of the company, the Gusto 125 employs features such as a stronger crankshaft and bearings, a high inertia magneto, a high energy HT coil and a series regulator to deliver high levels of power, fuel efficiency and reliability.
The new scooter gets a height adjustable seat just like its 110cc sibling. The scooter also gets a bright halogen headlamp along with LED pilot lamps. Other mentionable features include a remote hip key, find-me lamps, guide lamp, easy front kick and a quick storage compartment. The scooter rides on 12 inch wheels with tubeless tyres with suspension duty being takes care of by a telescopic suspension up front with air springs, and a long stroke hydraulic setup at the rear. the scooter also boasts a high ground clearance along with a a wide wheel base for enhanced stability.
