Mahindra’s electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, have set new benchmarks in safety by securing top 5-star ratings in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). These Electric Origin models achieved the highest scores ever recorded under the program, emphasizing Mahindra’s commitment to building safer vehicles for Indian roads.
BE 6 and XEV 9e Outstanding Test Results
The XEV 9e achieved a flawless score of 32/32 in adult occupant protection and 45/49 in child occupant tests. Close behind, the BE 6 scored 31.97/32 for adult safety, matching the XEV 9e’s 45/49 for child protection. These results not only position them as the safest EVs but also the safest SUVs in India, according to Bharat NCAP standards.

Built on Innovation
The BE 6 and XEV 9e are built on Mahindra’s advanced INGLO electric platform, which prioritizes safety and stability. The platform features a low center of gravity for improved handling, especially for SUVs, and incorporates ultra-high-strength boron steel for superior crash protection. The battery is integrated into the vehicle’s structure, creating a robust safety cage around the cabin.
MAIA, Mahindra’s proprietary technology architecture, enhances active safety with a Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Key features include lane centering, emergency steering assist, blind spot detection, and automatic emergency braking. The SUVs also boast a 360-degree camera, augmented reality heads-up display, and seven airbags.

A Legacy of Safety
The BE 6 and XEV 9e join Mahindra’s growing family of 5-star rated vehicles. Recent Bharat NCAP honorees include the Thar ROXX, XUV 3XO, and XUV400. Globally, the XUV700 and Scorpio-N have also earned top marks in safety assessments.
Leadership’s Vision
R Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology at Mahindra, stated, “The BE 6 and XEV 9e mark a new chapter in India’s automotive safety journey. Built on the robust INGLO platform and powered by MAIA, these SUVs are a testament to Mahindra’s commitment to safety and innovation.”
