Classic Legends has unveiled its latest addition to the Jawa lineup: the Jawa 42 FJ. This new model, priced at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), builds on the success of the Jawa 42 with enhanced features and performance. The Jawa 42 FJ is positioned as a sportier and more powerful variant within the ‘42’ range, commanding a premium of Rs 26,000 over the base model.
Modern Retro Design with a Sporty Edge
The Jawa 42 FJ embraces a modern retro design, evident in its tear drop-shaped fuel tank adorned with an aluminium side plate. The side panels maintain the traditional look consistent with other Jawa 42 models, while the fenders sport the characteristic Jawa tail light, adding to the classic appeal. The new model also features multi-spoke alloy wheels, blacked-out engine components, and upswept exhaust pipes, which contribute to its sportier appearance.
Performance Upgrades
Under the hood, the Jawa 42 FJ is powered by a more robust 334cc engine, derived from the new Jawa 350. This engine produces 29.1 hp and 29.6 Nm of torque, surpassing the 22.57 hp and 28.1 Nm offered by the standard Jawa 350. Compared to the base Jawa 42, the 42 FJ delivers an additional 2 hp and 3 Nm of torque. The bike’s seat height stands at 790mm with a ground clearance of 178mm, and it weighs 184kg—2kg more than the regular Jawa 42.
Features and Specifications
The Jawa 42 FJ is equipped with modern amenities, including LED lights and a single-pod instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity for incoming calls and SMS alerts, among other features. The bike comes with dual-channel ABS as standard, a steel chassis, and a suspension system comprising a 41mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. Braking is handled by a 320mm disc brake at the front and a disc brake at the rear.
Pricing and Competition
The Jawa 42 FJ is priced between Rs 1.99 lakh and Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with models like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, TVS Ronin, and Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Bookings for the Jawa 42 FJ are now open, with deliveries set to commence shortly.
