After the onslaught of teasers, Hyundai has officially launched the much-awaited Hyundai Exter. The Korean carmaker has announced an introductory price starting from Rs. 5.99 Lakhs Ex-showroom. This vehicle is positioned between Grand i10 Nios and the Hyundai i20.

Hyundai Exter: Platform, Safety, and Dimensions
The new Hyundai Exter is based on the K1 platform which shares its underpinnings with Grand i10 Nios and Aura. As per the carmaker, the structure of the new Exter is loaded with a strong body featuring Advanced and High Strength Steel.
In terms of dimensions, the new Exter has 3,815mm of length, 1,720mm of width, and 1,631mm of height. Moreover, the Exter has 2,450mm of wheelbase and 391 liters of class-leading boot space.

Hyundai Exter: Design and Aesthetics
The new Hyundai Exter features the latest parametric design language which looks bold and stands different from the crowd. Upfront, it gets a parametric grille, a split headlight design with H-shaped DRLs, an upright nose, and bumpers with skid plates. The front bumper has squared housing projector headlights that emerged into the parametric grille running across the front.

Meanwhile, the side profile of the Exter features a boxy design, squared wheel arches, roof rails, and cladding enhancing SUV character. The new Hyundai Exter sits on 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels which enhances its aesthetics. The rear profile of the Exter features parametric garnish on C-pillar and H-shaped signature LED taillights resembling the front DRLs. Moreover, the carmaker has also added a spoiler with a stop lamp, shark fin antenna, and rear wiper. The Exter gets a flat tailgate with a black bar between the taillights and the rear bumper with a large skid plate.

Interior and Features of Hyundai Exter
The new Exter boasts an all-black themed interior with the dashboard layout from Grand i10 Nios. The cabin features semi-leatherette upholstery and unique and funky accents on the AC vents. Moreover, the new Exter features a subtle laid-out dashboard with a multifunctional steering wheel with tilt adjustment and first-in-segment paddle shifters.

Powertrain, Variants, and Colour Options
The new Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2L 4-cylinder Kappa-series naturally aspirated VTVT petrol engine. This engine is BS6 phase-2 compliant and churns out 83PS of power and 114Nm of torque output. However, in CNG mode, this engine produces 69PS of power and 95Nm of torque output. The power is channeled to the front wheels via either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. Hyundai claims that the fuel efficiency of the Exter is 19.4 km/l for the manual and 19.2 km/l for the AMT version. While the fuel efficiency of the CNG variant is 27.1 km/kg.

Hyundai is offering the Exter in 7 different variants namely the EX, EX(o), S, S(o), SX, SX (o) and SX (o) connect. In terms of color options, the new Exter gets a variety of color options to choose from. It is available in 6 monotone colors including Atlas White, Cosmic Blue, Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki, Starry Night, and Titan Grey. However, the carmaker also offers 3 dual-tone colors Atlas Black with Abyss Black roof, Cosmic Blue with Abyss Black roof, and Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black roof.
Pricing, Warranty, and the Competition
The Hyundai has retailed the Exter in the price range of Rs. 5.99 Lakh to 9.32 Lakh Ex-showroom. With this launch, the Hyundai Exter is ready to compete with Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. Moreover, Hyundai is offering the standard warranty of 3 years or unlimited kilometers which can be extended to 7th year.
