Citroën Basalt Debuts at INR 7.99 Lakhs with Deliveries Scheduled for September

Citroën India has introduced the Basalt, a vehicle positioned as the country’s first mainstream SUV Coupé. The Basalt combines design elements of both SUVs and coupés, aiming to meet the diverse preferences of Indian consumers. It is offered at an introductory price range of INR 7.99 lakhs to INR 13.62 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Design and Comfort

The Citroën Basalt features a design that integrates the characteristics of an SUV with the streamlined silhouette of a coupé. Key exterior elements include a Piano Black Signature front grille with the Citroën Chevron emblem, urban diamond-cut R16 alloy wheels, and LED Vision Projector headlamps. The vehicle’s design is complemented by its high ground clearance and aerodynamic profile.

Inside, the Basalt is equipped with Citroën’s Advanced Comfort® suspension system, aiming to enhance ride comfort. The vehicle offers a spacious cabin, with features such as a Smart Tilt Cushion for adjustable thigh support, and a Tropicalized Auto Climate Control system with rear vents.

Engine and Performance

The Basalt is available with two engine options: the 1.2 L Gen 3 PURETECH 110 turbo engine and the PURETECH 82 naturally aspirated engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The vehicle’s 180 mm ground clearance is designed to handle a variety of road conditions.

Safety and Technology

The Citroën Basalt incorporates several safety features as standard, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The vehicle’s body structure utilizes high-grade steel for added protection.

Technology in the Basalt includes a 26 cm Citroën Connect Infotainment system with Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. The My Citroën Connect 2.0 system provides additional features such as remote engine start and geo-fencing.

Customization and Aftersales Service

The Basalt offers customization options with five monotone colors and two dual-tone body colors, along with over 70 accessories. Citroën India’s aftersales network is set to expand, with plans to increase the number of service centers from 60 to 100 by the end of the year, and further to 150 by 2025. The Citroën Service on Wheels initiative offers basic repairs at the customer’s location.

The introductory ex-showroom prices for the Citroën Basalt are as follows:

  • 1.2 NA PLUS: INR 9,99,000
  • 1.2 TURBO PLUS: INR 11,49,000
  • 1.2 TURBO AT PLUS: INR 12,79,000
  • 1.2 TURBO MAX: INR 12,28,000
  • 1.2 TURBO AT MAX: INR 13,62,000

A dual-tone variant is available for the Max models at an additional cost of INR 21,000.

The Citroën Basalt is positioned as a vehicle that blends the attributes of an SUV and a coupé, with a focus on comfort, safety, and technology.
