Audi Unveils Updated Q5

Following the recent introduction of the new Audi A5, the German automaker has now unveiled its SUV counterpart, the third-generation Q5. While the exterior and interior design maintain a familiar Q5 aesthetic, the new model boasts significant updates under the skin.

Exterior Design

Although the Q5’s overall silhouette remains recognizable, Audi has implemented a fresh design language. A prominent grille flanked by large air intakes dominates the front fascia, while slim Matrix LED headlights and a redesigned front bumper enhance its modern appeal. The rear features connected LED taillights and a dual-tone bumper. To improve visibility, the Q5’s taillights can display animated warnings using various light patterns.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the new Q5 adopts a luxurious cabin similar to the India-bound Q6 e-tron. Highlights include a 11.9-inch digital driver’s display, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. The practical interior offers a cargo volume of up to 1,473 liters (52 cubic feet) with the rear bench folded. Wireless charging and USB ports with high charging capacities further enhance convenience.

Powertrain Options

The new Q5 is available with three powertrain options:

  • 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol: Producing 204hp and 340Nm, available with front-wheel drive or AWD.
  • 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel: Delivering 204hp and 400Nm, standard with quattro all-wheel drive.
  • 3.0-liter V6 turbo-petrol: Offering 367hp and 550Nm, available in the SQ5 model.

All engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and a 48V mild-hybrid system. Audi has also announced plans for a plug-in hybrid version with a larger battery and external charging capability.

Pricing and Availability

The new Audi Q5 is priced starting at €52,300 (Rs 49 lakh) for the base petrol model, €57,100 (Rs 53.05 lakh) for the diesel, and €82,900 (Rs 77 lakh) for the SQ5. The Q5 will be available in Germany later this month, with European deliveries commencing in the first quarter of 2025.
