If new report from automotive website, Overdrive is to be believed, the Aprilia SR 150 has already reached the production line. There, however, is no official notification about any such development from Piaggio Group India. Unveiled and showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, Aprilia SR 150 will be India’s first locally made performance scooter and will make its way into the Indian market in the month of August 2016.
The uniquely styled Aprilia SR 150 blends design cues of both motorbikes and scooters and is powered by a 150cc engine, driving 14-inch wheels through an automatic gearbox.
The Aprilia SR 150 will come fitted with sport street tyres and will come fitted with a 220 mm disc at the front, paired with a 140 mm drum brake at the rear. To be manufactured at Piaggio’s state of the art Baramati plant, the Aprilia SR 150 is all set to be launched in the Indian market by August 2016.
As aforementioned, there is no official communication from the Piaggio. Looking at the mechanical specifications, prices are expected to hover around the Rs 1 lakh mark.
