Reports around the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 have been coming in for months, and we have also reported about the bike before. Now, ahead of its September 4 launch, the motorcycle has been spotted at a dealership stockyard. The latest sighting gives a better look at its console, wheels and overall design.
Himalayan 440 launch details
Royal Enfield will officially unveil the motorcycle in India on September 4. The bike is expected to sit between the Scram 440 and Himalayan 450 in the company’s range.
The spotted motorcycle looks very close to the older Himalayan 411, which will be good news for riders who liked its simple adventure bike design.

Simpler instrument console
One of the biggest visible changes is the instrument setup. The old Himalayan 411 had a large multi-pod console. The new bike uses a much cleaner layout.

The Tripper unit is expected to offer turn-by-turn navigation using Google Maps. The switchgear also appears similar to the Scram 440.
Same 443cc engine as Scram 440
Power will come from the same 443cc engine used in the Scram 440. It produces 25.4 bhp at 6,250rpm and 34 Nm at 4,000rpm. A six-speed gearbox will send power to the rear wheel. The engine has already been used in the Scram 440, so the Himalayan 440 is not expected to get a separate motor.

21-inch front wheel
The wheel setup will make a major difference between the two motorcycles. The Scram 440 uses a 19-inch front wheel, whereas the Himalayan 440 has been spotted with a 21-inch wire-spoke front wheel. A 17-inch rear wheel is also expected. The larger front wheel should help when riding over broken roads, stones and loose surfaces.
Longer suspension travel is also expected, although full suspension details have not been confirmed yet.
Familiar design with new colours
The basic shape looks similar to the Himalayan 411. The test bike does show some changes in the paint and graphics.
New colour choices are expected for the production version. It could also get different variants, with higher versions possibly offering better wheel and tyre equipment.
Expected price
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is expected to cost around Rs 2.50 lakh, ex-showroom. This would place it above the Scram 440 and below the Himalayan 450. More details about variants, features and exact pricing will be known on September 4.
