Hyundai’s new SUV has been seen on Indian roads several times, but the latest spy images give us a much better look at the model. The test vehicle is now wearing less camouflage, showing parts of its exterior and cabin for the first time. Hyundai is expected to position this SUV between the Venue and Creta, giving buyers another option in its SUV range.
The model is internally known as BC4i and is based on the Bayon sold in overseas markets. It is expected to arrive in India around the festive season.
Exterior gets a new look
The latest images reveal several details that were hidden on earlier test cars. The SUV has a fairly upright front end and a large bonnet with visible character lines. Some of the expected exterior features include:

- H-shaped lighting elements
- New grille design
- Front parking sensors
- Silver skid-plate style insert

The test car is finished in a golden-beige shade with a lighter roof. The design also gets a chunky look, which should help it stand apart from the smaller Venue.
Cabin gets dual screens
The cabin has also been partly revealed. The dashboard appears to have a clean layout, with two large screens placed next to each other. One works as the infotainment display and the other serves as the digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel uses Hyundai’s latest four-dot design instead of the traditional logo. The cabin seen in the test car has a black and grey theme. Much of the dashboard is still covered, so some details will have to wait for the production version.
Petrol and CNG options
Earlier reports had suggested a hybrid powertrain, but the latest information points towards a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is the same basic engine used by the Creta.
The petrol version is expected to produce around 115 PS and 143.8 Nm. It could be offered with a 6-speed manual and IVT automatic gearbox.
Hyundai is also expected to offer a CNG version. This could make the SUV a strong rival to models such as the Maruti Victoris. The CNG model is expected to use a manual gearbox.
Level 2 ADAS confirmed
One of the most interesting details in the latest images is the presence of cameras and radar hardware. This points to Level 2 ADAS for the new SUV.
Hyundai is also working on a wider product expansion in India, with several new models planned before 2030. A sub-4-metre electric SUV has also been confirmed as part of that plan.
The new SUV should give Hyundai another product in the growing midsize segment. With its new styling, large screens, ADAS and expected CNG option, it could be an interesting addition to the lineup.
