We saw the next generation 2017 Swift in March this year courtesy leaked images from a dealer conference in Europe. The leaked images showcased the new attire of the upcoming hatchback from Suzuki.

The car is expected to drive into the European market in early-2017 and the India launch is likely to follow soon after.

Under the heavily camouflaged test mule is the new Swift that gets a lightweight platform sourced from the Baleno with construction comprising of 41 percent of tensile steel. Upfront will be an all new hexagonal grille along with a set of new headlamps with their U-shaped LED signature, projectors and chrome trims. The front bumper will also houses massive fog lamp surrounds. The new rear door handle in the upper corner of the rear window is something that we earlier saw on the Chevrolet Beat.

Mechanical details are yet unknown but the next generation Swift will most likely draw power from a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine in addition to the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. The new Swift could also employ Suzuki’s self-developed oil burner too. Transmission duties are expected to be performed by a 5-speed manual, and an AMT.

The hatchback is expected to debut in late 2016 and to be launched in 2017.
