Kawasaki Z250SL, Ninja ZX-6R 636 and Vulcan S to be launched in India

NINJA-ZX6R

The IMD might’ve predicted a below normal monsoon for this year, however, manufacturers will continue to shower the country with higher capacity motorcycles. Adding to the downpour will be three new lime green motorcycles which will soon grace Kawasaki showrooms across India.

Kawasaki Z250SL

One of them will be a single cylinder Z250SL, which is powered by a 249cc, four valve, single-cylinder, fuel-injected DOHC motor that pumps out 27.6bhp at 9,700rpm and 22.5Nm of torque at 8,200rpm. Compared to the twin-cylinder Z250, this quarter liter bike looks more aggressive, minimal and could be priced around the Rs 2 lakh mark. Expect this machine to be launched sometime in Mid-2015 once it comes here in a CKD format.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636

Joining the existing Kawasaki brigade will be the Ninja ZX-6R 636. It is powered by a 636 cc, in-line four motor that makes 129.2 bhp of power at a rather high 13,500 rpm and 70 Nm of torque at 11,500 clicks. This middleweight Ninja comes equipped with a slipper clutch to accompany that high revving engine, ABS and traction control. To be brought in via the CBU channel by the end of this year,  the Ninja 636 could be priced around the Rs 12-13 lakh mark.

Kawasaki Vulcan S

Slugging it out with the Harley-Davidson Street 750 will be the Kawasaki Vulcan S, which is a contemporary cruiser powered by a 649 cc parallel twin that also does duty on the Ninja 650. In the Vulcan S, the motor pumps out 60.2 bhp at 7500 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 6600 clicks. With a low setting for the saddle that can also be customized, the Vulcan S has foot adjustable foot pegs, an eco meter and comes with optional ABS. Expected to be launched by mid-2015, the Kawasaki Vulcan S could be priced around the Rs 6 lakh mark after it makes it here via the CKD route.
