Ford and the National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum (NIHF) have come up with a crazy idea to showcase 50 years of innovation of the car-maker. Both the organizations have unveiled a one-of-a-kind Mustang(s) model in a side-by-side display at the NIHF museum. The display model is made out of not one but two of the most highly regarded models of Ford Mustang – the 1965 and 2015 models.
The project is a joint effort of the Ford Motor Company and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to celebrate invention and the importance of patents in the automobile industry. The organizations presented a permanent Mustang display that is created by splitting the aforementioned Mustang models lengthwise with two functional driver compartments. The fusion of a right-hand-drive 2015 Mustang and a left-hand-drive 1965 Mustang enables a direct comparison between the vehicles that took birth 50 years apart. The classic shows the roots of the iconic pony car while the latest version showcases the advancements the model line has made. The split in two Mustang is part of a new, permanent Intellectual Property Power Exhibit at the NIHF museum on the United States Patent and Trademark Office Campus in Alexandria, Virginia.
The NIHF is the non-profit organization in America that honours inventors whose innovations and entrepreneurial endeavours have changed the world. For their latest edition, they chose Ford as their partner because the company has played such an important part in the long history of American innovation with the Mustang.
At the museum visitors will be able to sit on either side of the car and directly compare features and styling details. From the AM radio, roll-up window, vent air window, and optional retractable color-keyed and seat belts available in 1965, to the working touch screen display in the 2015 model the visitors will get to explore all and also be able to hear the sounds of the original 1965 Mustang V8 engine and a 2015 Mustang V8 engine at idle.
