Great things surely come in small packages. We have always been impressed with the new Ford EcoBoost 1.0 litre motor that is high on power in spite of being low on size and promises to change the outlook of people towards small capacity engines.
The latest to have emerged about the ‘small wonder’ from Ford is that this motor can be easily housed inside a typical medium sized suitcase! Ford recently transported the EcoBoost motor from Detroit to Los Angeles in a mid-sized carry-on suitcase and it is being said that this act caught the airport security officials by a huge surprise.
The 1.0 litre EcoBoost is akin to an A4 size sheet paper in the area it covers and this is thanks to the cylinders being positioned merely 6.1 mm apart from each other. Another factor here is an atypical under-square cylinder arrangement of the cylinders. Lastly, the 123bhp engine is equipped with the world’s smallest turbocharger which spins at 2,48,000 rpm and award 1.2 bars of boost pressure.
The 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine is very likely to make its Indian debut along with the eagerly awaited Ford EcoSport Compact SUV.
