It is being said that Dacia is contemplating a pickup version of the highly popular Duster compact crossover. The Duster Pickup will be positioned as a replacement for the Logan Pickup in many European markets.
The Dacia pickup will share the styling with the regular Dacia till the B pillar after which the cargo bay of the pick up begins. The rear overhang of the car has been increased by 20 cms to provide a large cargo area.
Powering the Dacia Pickup will be a 1.6 litre petrol engine with 105 bhp on offer. Also available will be the tried and tested 1.5 litre K9K diesel motor. The Dacia Duster Pickup will also offer an option of all wheel drive mechanism and is expected to debut in 2014. Renault currently has no plans to bring the Duster Pickup to India. However, a stripped down version, combined with an attractive price tag, can surely give a tough fight to the Tata Xenon and Mahindra Scorpio Getaway.
