TKM showcases “Ethanol Pavilion” at the Auto Expo

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is participating in the “Ethanol Pavilion” at the 23rd Auto Expo. They are highlighting the value of using diverse energy pathways to become carbon neutral. The Pavilion, organised by The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), intends to increase ethanol’s acceptance as an alternative fuel and raise public knowledge of it. This is set up to reduce the industry’s reliance on fossil fuels.

Both Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, the government of India’s honourable minister of petroleum and natural gas, as well as Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, the minister of state for power and heavy industries, officially opened the pavilion.

Toyota is dedicated to become carbon neutral by 2050 as one of the world’s leading proponents of sustainability. It wants to achieve net zero carbon manufacturing operations by 2035. Toyota is advancing greener mobility solutions with greater agility while taking into account a variety of factors. This includes India’s energy mix, its distinctive consumer profile and needs, infrastructure readiness. It also includes the Government’s diversified efforts to become “Atma Nirbhar” in energy by 2047.

Ethanol is one of the best possibilities because it is a locally available. It is a clean energy source that may dramatically cut carbon emissions, the cost of energy imports, and the consumption of fossil fuels. Being based on agriculture, increased use of ethanol as gasoline will also enhance farmer earnings and add jobs. This in turn improves the agricultural economy in addition to raising government revenue. Additionally, the government just introduced second-generation technologies for the production of ethanol from agricultural waste (parali), which is currently burned.

Toyota’s Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Toyota recently started a Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (FFV-SHEV) Technology pilot project in India. They entered into an MOU with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The cutting-edge Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology initiative represented Toyota’s efforts to promote and raise awareness of ethanol as a significant domestic energy pathway that is carbon neutral and can help India achieve true self-reliance and make progress toward the country’s goal of Carbon Net-Zero by 2070. The reputed Indian Institute of Science will get the gathered data in order to perform a more thorough investigation of the well-to-wheel carbon emissions of FFV/FFV-SHEV in the Indian setting.

Toyota’s Flex-fuel Vehicle (FFV) is on show at the Ethanol Pavilion. Additionally, the Flex-fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (FFV-SHEV) was also on show at Auto Expo 2023 in Stall Number 10.
