Tata Motors had a busy pavilion at the Auto Expo 2023 and that was owing to the interesting set of showcases it had. The company unveiled 3 SUVs and a host of other versions of its existing products.
Here we talk about the legendary Sierra in an upcoming avatar.
Sierra EV: Exterior Looks & Specs
The SUV’s front is furnished with a long LED strip that connects from end to end. Additionally, it also has a clean front fascia without any large grilles. It comes with a sizable bumper, a substantial silver skid plate, and a large Tata logo in front and center of the fascia.
The new concept mimics Sierra’s original back fixed glass design with gloss black trim components at the top, but the fixed glass roof is replaced with a panoramic sunroof. The B-pillar is body colored and creates a wraparound effect for the roof graphic.
Martin also confirmed that Sierra’s design has been ready for production – and the vehicle shown at the expo was a pre-production model, “We’ve frozen the design already. That is the design I reviewed in Pune in our design studio,” he adds. The Sierra seen at the Auto Expo did not have concept car tyres and it has been confirmed that the 20-inch alloy wheels will be present on the production-spec Sierra.
Sierra EV: Interior Design
The Sierra EV will get two seating layouts for the cabin – a conventional five-seater with proper boot space and a rear bench seat, along with a ‘lounge’ variant that will be a four-seater. The Sierra EV will also get three levels of screen sizes to choose from.
The lounge version gets what Tata Motors’ calls a business class layout, and keeping chauffeur-driven passengers in mind, the packaging means it won’t feel like you’re sitting in a 4.3-meter vehicle, but one that is 4.5 or 4.6 meters long.
On the interior the concept of the Sierra.EV boasts a futuristic looking layout which is further improved by a two-tone color palette. The comfortable, airline-style chairs and the complete lack of buttons and dials, which are displayed on screens in the concept, are examples of its futuristic styling. We can expect physical HVAC controls and buttons to operate most of the features in the production version. Although we can also expect the production SUV to have the same floating touchscreen, ambient lighting, and layered dashboard design.
Sierra EV: Powertrain
The Sierra will be offered primarily in front-wheel-drive guise, be it in the EV or ICE versions, and while it has not been confirmed officially, it will likely be offered with the option of an AWD powertrain as well.
Sierra EV: Launch Details & Price
Tata Motors Head of Global Design, Martin M. Uhlarik at the Auto Expo 2023 revealed that the concept showcased at the company booth at the event has been finalized to enter production in 2025. The Sierra EV is two years away from being launched.
