Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV Concept Unveiled

Maruti Suzuki has revealed its all-new EV concept – the eVX Baleno-based electric SUV which is built on a born-electric platform. At the 2023 AutoExpo being held in Noida, the carmaker showcased its all-electric mid-sized SUV for the Indian market.

  • built from the ground up as a born EV; gets a dedicated EV platform
  • powered by a 60-kWh battery
  • Expected driving range of 550km
  • 4.3m long, 1.8m wide, 1.6m tall

The eSUV concept, designed and developed by Suzuki Motor Corporation in Japan, offers futuristic SUV design elements alongwith high seating.

Concept eVX: Specifications

The eVX electric SUV measures 4.3 meters in length while it is 1.8 meters in width and 1.6 meters tall. According to Maruti, the eVX’s 60 kWh battery pack will make the SUV go up to a distance of 550km.

As of now, much information hasn’t been released by the company. Although we can see that the eSUV sits well above the ground suggesting that it has ample ground clearance.

Concept eVX: Design

In terms of design, the eVX is a departure from the brand’s design language for the Brezza & Grand Vitara. The company has showcased a completely new design language for its electric SUV which appears butch, sharp, and muscular.

Suzuki’s BEV gets an aggressive front look with V-shaped split LED DRLs and headlamps along with a closed-off front grille. The flat bonnet extends forward to form a sharp nose with a fairly tall and upright front portion. The car sports prominent, muscular, and flared wheel arches that are laden with chunky body cladding on all sides. Both the front and rear bumpers fashion a silver skid plate providing the eSUV with a rugged appeal.

At the back, an LED light bar running across the width of the SUV’s tailgate grabs your attention. The split LED taillight units are positioned at both ends of the light bar. Overall, the eVX comes off as an attractive-looking package designed to be liked by the majority of people.

Suzuki has designed the eVX to look like a coupe-SUV with a sloping roofline and steep, raked rear windshield. For added aerodynamics, the SUV gets aero-styled wheels & also features a roof-mounted spoiler at the rear.

Suzuki has designed the eVX to deliver high levels of aerodynamic efficiency by lowering the drag coefficient.

Concept eVX: Other Highlights

The EV architecture that the eVX comes built on will also power a range of EVs in the future. Toyota will also be a part of the development of this platform and electric cars for both manufacturers.

We expect the company to manufacture the eSUV in the country while also selling it in foreign markets.
