MG has finally launched the much-awaited 2023 versions of the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs in the Indian market today. The Hector now begins at a price of Rs 14.72 lakh while the Hector Plus begins at Rs 17.49 lakh.
MG announced the prices for the 5, 6 & 7-seater iterations of the SUV at the AutoExpo held in Noida. The next-gen Hector gets new tech with 11 ADAS Level 2 features, a new dashboard layout, updated interiors & exteriors.
MG Hector & Hector Plus: Pricing, Variants, Colours & Powertrain Options
The Hector comes in 5 variants – Style, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro & Savvy Pro, and 3 seating layouts. The 6-seater variant comes with 2 captain chairs while the 7-seater is offered with bench seats in the second row.
The SUV will be available in one dual-tone and six mono-tone colour options. Dual-tone option will be Candy White with a Starry Black roof. While the mono-tone options include Candy White, Havana Grey, Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, and a new Dune Brown.
The powertrain options of the SUV however, have stayed the same. The Hector continues with its 143hp 1.5-L turbo-petrol & 170hp 2.0-L diesel motors paired with the 6-speed manual gearbox. Although, MG has sacked the DCT and now CVT is the sole automatic gearbox on offer with the turbo-petrol engine. The petrol engine of the Hector also no longer comes equipped with the mild-hybrid assist.

MG Hector & Hector Plus: Interiors Updates & Features
Inside, the Hector comes equipped with the segment’s largest touchscreen infotainment system, i.e., a 14-inch portrait touchscreen unit. This is the largest touchscreen to be fitted to any mass-market car in India yet.
The interiors of the new SUV are totally different than what was available with their earlier versions. The interior now comes with a dual-tone argil brown and black theme with a faux-wooden finish.
The dashboard and overall interior sports a new dual-layered look with D-shaped air-con vents and satin-silver accents alongwith ambient lighting.
The addition of Level 2 ADAS means the SUV gets new features such as lane-keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, and lane-departure warning. A fully-digital driver’s display, voice-controlled ambient lighting, a redesigned gear lever, and an electronic parking brake switch are also offered.
MG Hector & Hector Plus: Exterior Updates
The major changes are focused at the front as MG has given a much wider grille studded with diamond-chrome inserts. The gloss black headlamp surrounds coupled with a new chrome skidplate provide it an imposing stance & greater road presence.
At the rear, a chrome strip runs across the tailgate from under the taillamps & there’s also a revised bumper. The update gets the SUV a redesigned taillamp assembly that has connected illuminated, vertical light bar elements in it.
Notably, the Hector & Hector Plus will now have no visual differences unlike in the previous versions of the SUVs.
MG Hector & Hector Plus: Other Highlights
The next-gen Hector also has key safety features such as 6 airbags, a 360-degree HD camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Assist Control (HAC), and all four-wheel disc brakes are also on offer. The package also includes 3-point seat belt for all seats, an electric parking brake (EPB), and front parking sensors.
