Added in: News

India Yamaha Motor have announced an expansion plan for their dealership network in India. The expansion plan, focused primarily at the smaller towns comprises of an addition of 50 dealerships in the next two months. The launch of the gearless Ray scooter next month is central to the expansion strategy. The company is getting aggressive, and plans to take the dealership count up to an optimistic 2000 from the current 400 by 2018.

Commenting on the development, Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO & MD, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd., said “Our aim is to capture mass market of scooters and we are aiming to sell 4 lakh vehicles in the first year. Keeping in mind the increasing demand in two wheelers, we are planning to expand our dealership network extensively.”

While network expansion could never be a bad thing for a popular automaker, we’d be happier if Yamaha carried on what it started with the R15 – giving us well-engineered products which lead the way as regards performance and technology. More good products please, Yamaha.
