India’s first compact 7-seater MPV, the Datsun GO+ will be launched on the 15th of January. While it looks every bit a Datsun GO hatchback, the manufacturer has done well to keep the wheelbase intact and yet managed to make space for a 3rd row. What could take the market by surprise will be the pricing though, which Datsun has hinted will be between the 3.5 to 4.5 lakh mark. This MPV though will not be powered by a diesel burning motor.

The GO+ will only be available with 1.2-litre, 3 cylinder petrol engine that powers the GO hatchback, however, has been tuned to deliver ample torque at low revs. It will be available in four variants, D, D1, A and T. Features such as central locking, power windows and a power steering though are only reserved for the top-most ‘T’ model, while air-conditioning is available only with two of the four variants.  The GO+ will appeal to those looking to buy a spartan, need based vehicle that can either move five adults and two kids in comfort or carry a lot of luggage minus the kids. Unfortunately, none of the variants offer safety features like Airbags or ABS even as an option.
