From enthusiast point of view,It is a big miss.

*Because there is no big bike look or feel.Very average look.

*No ABS

*No 6 speed gear box

But for regular commuter point of view or 150cc rider’s,Its gonna be hit.

*Thumbs up for price.

*Weight less so easy for regular use.

*Good mileage.

*Decent spec.

Yamaha looking for targeting mass market instead of entusiast.

I think Yamaha has a very specific cliental in mind when launching this bike. Yamaha has adorned college parking lots since the 1980’s and Yamaha lost out on those spots. It did gain it back again with the R15 and FZ16 but soon they were replaced by KTM’s. They kept the engine very simple and low power output to keep maintenance costs low. Not to forget the 43 kmpl claimed mileage. This will definitely get flavor with college crowds and young professionals who want a good looking bike but have limited budget for fuel.

I think it will do ok. Will not become the next big thing like the R15 did when it was launched but would not be as exclusive at R3 – which failed to find flavor due to it’s price.

Looking at the engine specs of FZ25  ,its a miss comparing with other players in same segment like duke 200 & Pulsar NS200. Styling wise Yamaha is doing a great job, with introduction of led technology in illumination & nicely sculpted fuel tank.So this concludes that ergonomically & aesthetically YZ25 is a great motorcycle but performance is decent which should had been better while competing with other players.Overall on the scale of 10 ,YZ25 can be rated 6.

True, Dhairya. Yamaha targeting this segment only, not enthusiast. Volume will be there but no serious fan following, I think.

If they have priced a 250cc bike at this price point I wonder if the R15 will receive a price cut to protect its sales. I mean it no longer is a performance commuter bike with the arrival of new FZ.

I dont mind paying that sort of money for a premium Yamaha at all. It’s a good looking naked with good performance and fuel efficiency. It’s just the kind of motorcycle I was looking for. This bike will create sales for Yamaha in the premium segment, even more than the R15.
