Hey guys,

Help me out please!

I am in a biker’s moral dilemma! I own a 2015 KTM RC 390 and I love it but there’s a new girl in town (2017 390 Duke) and I am finding it hard to ignore her.

So I was thinking of divorcing my wife to get hitched with the babe. But I am confused.

RC390

The good-

  • Great styling.
  • Proper commanding position.
  • A piggyback ECU can keep me happy for another year or two.

The bad-

  • Poor range.
  • Gets tiring.
  • Jerky engine as compared to the new one.
  • Tires are on their death bed(will cost 12k on replacement).
  • ECU costs another 18k.
  • Service due – another 3k.
  • Total-33k

2017 D390

The good-

  • Refined engine.
  • Adequate braking.
  • Good range(relatively).
  • Modern bells and whistles(TFT screen, slipper clutch, RBW, led lamps, etc)
  • Relaxed ergonomics.
  • Pillion comfort.

The bad –

  • Looks like a tiny bike.
  • Misses on the big bike appeal factor.

Now considering the looming costs of my rc, I was thinking to sell it out and invest another 100 grand for the naked babe. But I am skeptical as to whether it will be a right decision or not?
Regarding the rc, will the new tyres and ECU(powertronics) + air filter update be worth spending on if I decide to stay faithful to my old one.

Please help 🙁

You’ll get more useability, a shiny new instrument cluster, more refinement, more tech and more comfort with the new Duke. What you wouldn’t probably get is any extra performance. The new Duke is probably the best overall bike to buy right now, and we strongly recommend that you go for it if you could spare the money. The new tyres, however, aren’t as good as the expensive ones you have on your RC.

Thanks For the valuable advice 🙂

I have another query.

I have decided to stick to my RC390 but i need a new pair of shoes.

Confused among the following options –

  • Diablo Rosso II
  • Pilot Street Radial
  • Sportec M5

All being 66H rated with the manufacturer recommended size. Which would you recommend?
