I have been using a Yamaha FZ 18 for over 7 years now. I have outgrown my bike completely. I use my bike for 30% city and 70% long rides.
I’m now in the hunt for a new bike and my first option was to go to KTM D390 2017. But, with people complaining about ECU problems, electricals (headlight and console) I have kept this thought on hold.
Coming to the problem, I know that D390 is terrific bike but Akula 310, with its wind protection and BMW hardware is pulling me towards it. Yes, it’s true that there is no word on the launch yet but, is it safe to compare these two bikes? Also does it make better sense for a rider than D390? And most importantly, do you have any information on when the Akula 310 is going to be launched?
The KTM Duke 390 is a bloody good machine. It’s pretty dexterous and can be used in a variety of scenarios. If you’re looking at buying it, you cannot go wrong – except for the wind protection that you rightly pointed out. We would suggest you wait for the Apache RR 310S before making the final call. As for us, we cannot comment on a product we have not reviewed or tested. It looks good though, and you can have some sense of the Akula’s capability in this video
