Recently I wanted a pair of riding boots for everyday use, you know, something cheap which I could use on a day to day basis, without feeling bad about using my Alpinestars which cost me upwards of INR 15K. I was looking for a pair of ankle length boots, which were comfortable, well built and offered suitable protection for a budget of INR 5K. Remember, I was not looking for a known brand, but a decent pair of riding boots which did their job well without expecting me to break the bank.

Guess what, I looked a lot, and I couldn’t find a pair that suited my needs.

Is INR 5K too small an amount? I guess there is a huge market of riding enthusiasts who want a pair of decent looking and well made boots for themselves, without having to spend a small fortune. Or is it that we just take riding boots to be very expensive without even trying to find out if there are some more affordable options available?

Point is, at many times, we think that we are ready to part with a decent amount of money for a requirement, only to realize to our bafflement that there simply isn’t an option available for that requirement in the market, or online.

Have you ever felt so? Do you think you have a car or bike accessory related need within a budget which is not getting addressed? We would love to hear from you. Use this platform to voice your thoughts on the topic, spell out the gaping holes and voids in the market.

At Motoroids, we have been contacted by some suppliers who want to know this, and they’d be happy listening to you carefully and providing a solution. So get going, do let us know of the stuff that you need and cannot find online, and we will ask our friends to help you get it.

And guess what, the best entries here may even win some goodies! So do share your thoughts about such unaddressed needs, and who knows your wish might just get answered here.

For me its the RIDING JACKET…that i have been longing to buy from months. Yes ,there are loads of options online and in stores but the cost is way over my head .For a student like me who goes out for a jolly ride on weekends may be around 150-200 km .I wanted a moderate built ,light ,scratch protecting jacket..thats just my requirement..but just for this price starts from 8k, which is no where near my budget. I really would have liked something around 1-2 k that which would protect me from minor injuries..And yeah there ar fake jackets for 500rs too..but we all know fake jackets are just to show off its just another piece of cheap cloth. So yeah, its the a riding jacket for me 🙂

That’s a great insight Vinayprasad. While everyone is promoting wearing riding gear, nobody ever seems to talk about the prohibitive cost associated with some of the brands. It’s a deterrant to road safety. I am sure, the requirement you have spelled out is the requirment of lakhs of youngsters who want something reasonably priced and reasonably effective, without having to part with a fortune. A light nylon  jacket with some ventilation and protection at the right places shouldn’t be too difficult to make at the price you have mentioned (INR 2K) – high time some gear manufacturer took the opportunity and addressed the need.

Thanks a lot for your input

hey motoroids.. For your budget and your requirement.. I think that the solace kinetic boots are perfect. They’ve ample protection good for long as well as spirited rides. A friend of mine bought their top of the line threshold boots and he is anything but happy with his purchase so i suggest you to have a look at these!

Wonder how come no one came up with gloves.  Highly underrated protective gear. My last pair was from cramster,  cost me Rs. 1700,  4 years ago,  and sacrificed themselves protecting my hand in a nasty crash a year ago. New ones now cost me around 2.4k.  I find the cheaper pro-biker or similar gloves absolute waste even for 350 odd bucks.

I’d  love to have decent, daily riding,  summer gloves, not necessarily leather,  but with great abrasion resistance at under a 1000 rupees.

Hey buddy well i’ve got a good suggestion.. Spartan pro gear recently launched their sister brand viz. Known as “Scimitar”. Their jackets are bang for the buck and trust me they really hold up well. Just a couple of days ago one of my friends (he uses the scimitar transition jacket) had a head-on at lavasa because of a douchebag who was cutting lanes. His bike was miserably damaged but he went away with some minor injuries.. Guess what his jacket held up well and he still uses it. And for your budget i think the scimitar solus mesh which retails for around 3.5k (this is the lowest u can go) really hits the nail hard. Its mesh so everyday use no problem.. U can even upgrade the armour if u like. Well all the best for ur purchase and try on the jacket before buying. Ciao
