Reader Review: Deepak Dongre quickly reviews the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS

Only today, we posted the on road price of the much hyped Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS. The info is courtesy some good work from our member Mr. Deepak Dongre. Now, Deepak owns a CBR250R and has used a Pulsar 150 for over 1.5 lakh kms. He has also used a Hero Honda Karizma for 70k kms after he stopped using the 150. He is an avid tourer and surely knows a thing or two about bikes. When inquiring about the price of the 200NS, he asked the Mumbai Bajaj dealer for a test ride of the new bike and he took the 200NS for a spin. Following is his take on the new Pulsar 200NS-

“The new Pulsar has a surprisingly fantastic build quality. The frame, foot pegs and subframe feels absolutely top notch. The paint quality on the bike is as good as the quality of the materials used on the body panels and the bike surely feels a class above the current crop of Pulsars the moment you sit on the bike. Second thing I noticed was the very neat and readable fonts on the well finished digital speedo console. The switchgear, though not very nice in finish, is smooth in operation and scores well on the ergonomic front. Next, I took the bike for a short spin and the short ride was sufficient to conclude that the bike is definitely a well sorted offering that is a step or two ahead of the previous Pulsars. The seat is very comfy and supportive. As for the riding position, it is upright and the rider does not feels awkward like when on the KTM. Cutting the crap, this bike should be great for touring. The suspension on this bike is neither too soft, like that of the CBR, nor too biased towards handling, read: sportsbikes. The rear monoshock does a good job on the bumps. Coming to the engine, the motor is surely a gem and everyone will be surprised with the smoothness on offer. Some people might not agree here, but it feels smoother than the Duke- though it isn’t as mad revving. If one is blindfolded and asked to rev the bike, he might mistake the smoothness for a Honda engine. The gearbox is an absolute delight, makes u feel as if you are pressing a large door bell button with your feet than a gear lever.”

    The 200 ns is just the beginning of some credible performance from the Bajaj stable.

    The KTM leads in more than one way when compared to the NS besides just the Austrian brand moniker.

    Having said that, the marketing team at Bajaj is certainly at the helm of some clever marketing techniques. The NS has been cleverly priced to make one own a premium feel at the same time not burn a hole in his pocket.

    Bring it on — the war of the 350s are next.
