Video: Okinawa Praise E-Scooter Features, Price, Specs, Range and All You Need to Know

The name Okinawa might make you think that it’s a Japanese brand, but it’s Indian to the core. Founded in 2015 by Jeetender Sharma, Okinawa has made great strides towards establishing itself as a name to be reckoned with in the Indian electric scooter space. After launching the Ridge, the company has launched its top of the line Praise scooter, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

To start off, the Okinawa Praise looks quite angular and meaty for an electric scooter. It’s very well styled and looks substantial as compared to other skinny looking EVs in this space. It features a front panel mounted LED headlight, LED DRLs and LED blinkers at the rear. The front blinkers, and rear tail-light, however are illuminated by bulbs.
Okinawa claims that it’s the fastest electric scooter in India with a top speed of 75 km/hr. It is also claimed to have the longest range among e-scooters, which ranges from 170 to 200 km on a single charge based on the mode used and style of riding. The Okinawa Praise has been available for Booking for an amount of Rs 2000 for some time, and has been launched with a price tag of Rs 59,889 ex-showroom Delhi

Apart from its substantial style, the Okinawa Ridge comes with a host of features. As mentioned before, it gets LED headlights along with a fully Digital instrument Console with trip, odo, speedo, range and remaining charge readouts. The scooter also gets three riding modes namely Economy, Sporty and Turbo, which are displayed in the instrument console. The Praise also comes with a stand which is equipped with an Anti-theft sensor. The front suspension is a telescopic fork setup, while the rear gets a gas charged suspension.

The Praise is powered by a 1000Watt BLDC motor with an output power of 2500Watt. As mentioned before the scooter has three modes – Economy, Sporty and Turbo. In Economy mode you can ride at a top speed of 35 km/h for extended range, in Sporty Mode, the Praise will hit a top speed of 65Km/h. There’s a Turbo mode also which lets it reach 75 km/h but this mode is meant only for small bursts, it’s meant for overtaking and lasts only for a maximum of 30 seconds. The scooter also gets brake energy regeneration, which Okinawa called E-ABS or Electronic Assisted Braking System to enhance the vehicle’s efficiency and performance further.

The aluminum wheels on the scooter look pretty cool too and come shod with tubeless MRF tyres. Both front and rear wheels get disc brakes, and pretty big ones at that for an EV. Both front and rear tyres are 90 section units with 12 inch wheels. The Praise also gets a Mobile Charging point, a rather large under seat space, and it also comes with a location tracker device which Okinawa calls the ‘find my scooter feature’.

Seat height is 774mm, which is OK even for short riders, with the ground clearance being 170mm. The ergonomics are pretty good and the scooter has a very comfortable seat for two riders. The scooter can take a rider weight of upto 150 kg. The quality of switchgear is decent for an EV, and so is the fit and finish. It is arguably the best finished EV in India right now. While Okinawa is very upbeat about the graphics on the scooter we think they’re a tad loud and could have done with a bit more subtle styling. Overall, the scooter looks way better than other EVs and is a big leap forward from an aesthetic perspective for electric scooters.

‘Praise’ is available in three color combos – Glossy Purple with Black, Matte Blue with Black and Matte Golden with Black.

We’ll get the Praise for a review very soon and share a detailed experience. We hope this video was informative and useful for you. If you liked it, do subscribe to our channel, and share it with your friends. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more motoring action. And as always, Rev Hard, Rev Free!
