Official: Next-gen Pulsar debuts in December

Added in: Bajaj Auto

After months of speculation and no concrete info in the view, it’s finally official. Bajaj Auto have announced that the company will launch its next-gen, 2012 Pulsar in December to commemorate 10 years of the brand. This will, however, not be an official launch, and just an introduction to the bike. The new Pulsar will hit the showrooms only by 2012.

According to BAL’s MD Rajiv Bajaj, the new Pulsar will boast technology not witnessed thus far on any bike in the world. Now that’s quite a statement to make, and we hope this unique tech’ is actually something substantial and not a marketing gimmick. The technology introduced in the new 2012 Pulsar will later trickle down onto other products such as the Discover as well.

“We launched the first Pulsar in November 2001 and are now ready with a 100 per cent new bike with remarkable engine technology. It is really the next big step after DTS-i,” said Mr Bajaj.
While we don’t know any details on the technology Mr Bajaj is talking about, we are quite comfortable in assuming that the next-gen Pulsar under rising competition from technologically advanced bikes such as the CBR250R would feature 4 valves per cylinder and liquid cooling.

There is no clarity yet on the cubic capacity of the new Pulsar either, but a 250cc single is the least we expect from Bajaj for the newest iteration of their flagship brand. We are quite sure that a lot of technology and components would be shared with the upcoming KTM 200 Duke as well.

The company believes that exports will witness a sharp rise in the coming years. Supply to African and ASEAN markets would mean that the exports may eventually exceed domestic sales.

We would like our readers to share with us any insights, details or inside news they have about the bike as Bajaj officials are really tight lipped on the subject. Do share with us all your views and knowledge on the topic liberally, so that thousands others may also benefit.
