Official: KTM Duke 390 India launch on June 25

Added in: News

Gazillion speculations later, we finally have the official launch date of the much awaited KTM 390 Duke.

The highly anticipated 375cc variant of the Duke could be seen opening gates to a new segment of sub-400cc performance bikes in India. As we reported earlier, the bike would have a 0-100kmph timing of less than 6 secs and would have a genuine 150 kmph-plus capability.  From what our friends in print media have informed us, the KTM 390 Duke seems to be capable of hitting 130kmph in scant 10-11 secs.

The upcoming 390 Duke has a max power output of 44bhp and has a peak torque figure of 35Nm. What the bike also has is a well sorted out handling package. The engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission that is based on the 200 Duke’s transmission. However, it sports different gear ratios. (Full technical specs at the end of this page).

It is being said that the India spec KTM 390 Duke would come factory fitted with Metzeler M5 Sportec tyres. These tyres should provide the 390 Duke with really nice grip, even in the wet conditions (and it’s already pouring 😉 ). It may be noted that Metzeler tyres is a premium brand of Pirelli and is known as the makers of one of the best motorcycle tyres in the world. The Duke 390 will be seen sharing its crankcase castings with the Duke 200. The 390 Duke’s 375cc engine benefits from forged piston and a chrome plated cylinder. There are very good chances that the KTM Duke 390 will come to us with ABS as standard. The 390 Duke’s ABS system is build by Bosch and can be switched on or off by the user. Visually, the KTM 390 Duke is almost identical to the 125cc and 200cc variants. The only changes that we have spotted so far are the usage of KTM Orange paint on the trellis frame, alloy wheels and different decals.
