Nissan has announced that it has received two recognitions from the Limca Book of Records for its ’New Star of India’ digital campaign. The New Star of India, starring Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, was recognized as the first such film to have conducted online dance auditions through Facebook. 20 co-stars – voted for by the public – appeared alongside Ranbir in a groundbreaking short movie, which was released in March last year.
The film was also honoured for featuring 29 blue-colour Nissan Micra cars, the highest number of same brand, same colour cars ever used in a short film.
Speaking about this remarkable achievement, Mr. Takayuki Ishida, MD & CEO, Nissan Motor India said, “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised by the Limca Book of Records. Nissan launched the online talent hunt at www.facebook.com/nissanindia in October 2011 with over 2,500 participants uploading their short videos on the Facebook page. The winners were chosen on the basis of public votes and final judgement by Ranbir Kapoor and director Ahmed Khan. The online campaign attracted over 5,21,000 fans by March 2012.
