Next gen 2015 Mercedes C Class to get Renault 1.6 litre diesel engine

It seems like the ne Mercedes-Benz A-Class isn’t the only Mercedes car that will get a Renault-sourced diesel engine. It has emerged that powering the next gen C Class that has been spotted testing on numerous occasions will be Renault’s new 130PS 1.6-liter four-cylinder common rail turbodiesel engine.

It is being said that Renault will soon announce that it has got into a partnership with Mercedes for sharing its new engine with the Stuttgart based carmaker. The Renault diesel engine powered variant of the C Class Likely to be called the C200 CDI, the Renault-powered Mercedes will arrive in European dealerships in 2015 at the earliest.

The 1.6 litre diesel engine that the next gen C Class will get can currently be found powering the Renault Mégane, Fluence, Scénic and the Nissan Qashqai. It is expected that this oil burner will be re-tuned for use in the new C-Class. Currently, the 1.6-liter dCi Energy 130 has a max power of 130 [email protected],000 rpm and has a peak torque of [email protected] 1750 rpm.

Renault currently provides Daimler with 1.5-liter 110hp diesel engine for the A-Class and the Citan small van.
