The Maruti Suzuki Celerio will make its public debut next month at the the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo and will be the replacement for the A-Star in the Indian market. It may be noted that even the current A-Star, which is nothing but a current gen Suzuki Alto, is sold under Celerio nameplate in some international markets. The Celerio is the production version of the Suzuki A:Wind concept that made its debut at the 2013 Thailand Motor Show.

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be the same 1.0 liter K-Series engine that powers the Alto K10, WagonR and the discontinued Estillo. This 998 cc 3 cylinder engine churns out a max power of 67 bhp and peak torque of 90 Nm@3500 RPM. Currently, this engine manages to offer an ARAI tested fuel efficiency of 20.2 kmpl for the Alto K10. However, safely expect the engine to be more fuel efficient for the Celerio.

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio will boast of a Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). As already reported by us earlier, the car will feature a dashboard mounted gear lever similar to the Ritz. The gear level is marked with the usual P,R,N,D notations, with the + and – signs indicating a manual mode. The instrument console is new and includes the tachometer on the left. The analog temperature gauge has been given a miss, but the console features a small MID on the right side. While the steering wheel is similar to the one on the current gen Swift, the ZXi trim does not get a driver airbag.

As mentioned above, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio will make its global debut at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo next month. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more Maruti Suzuki Celerio images and details.
