In March this year, we saw the next generation, 2017 Swift, courtesy leaked images from a dealer conference in Europe which showcased the new attire of this much successful hatchback from Suzuki. The car is expected to drive into the European market in early-2017 and the India launch is likely to follow soon after.

The new Swift is currently undergoing pre-production test runs and the first snaps of a heavily camouflaged prototype have surfaced courtesy motoring portal Car Scoops.

While the car is heavily wrapped to hide the finer details, we can clearly spot the new door handle, cleverly hidden in the upper corner of the rear window, something that we earlier saw on the Chevrolet Beat.

The next generation Swift will be based on the lightweight platform sourced from the Baleno with construction comprising of 41 percent of tensile steel. Powering the next generation Swift will most likely be the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine in addition to the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. As for diesel power, the new Swift could employ Suzuki’s self-developed diesel engine.
