MSIL Recalls Grand Vitara For The Third Time

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki on Monday announced yet another recall of 11,177 units of its Grand Vitara manufactured between 8 August & 15 November 2022.

Maruti has recalled these vehicles to fix a possible defect in the rear seat belt mounting brackets, which, in a rare case, may loosen in the long run and impact its functionality.

The company has said that its dealership workshops will contact the owners of the affected models to inspect & replace the affected part free of cost if required in the vehicles.

This is the third recall for Maruti’s mid-sized SUV since its launch back in September 2022. The brand’s flagship SUV was part of a larger recall that was announced on January 18, 2022, which also included models like the Alto K10, S-Presso, Baleno, Eeco, and Brezza. That recall was undertaken to inspect and replace a faulty airbag controller.

While back in December 2022, the carmaker issued a recall of over 9,000 units of the Grand Vitara and other models like the Ertiga, XL6, and the Ciaz due to a possible defect in the child parts of the front seat belt’s shoulder height adjuster assembly.

Recently, a batch of the Grand Vitara SUV were also exported for sale in the Latin American markets. Here’s our article covering the news.
