Jawa unveils the Jawa 42 ‘Tawang Edition’ at Torgya Festival in Tawang

The state of Arunachal Pradesh is renowned for its pure natural beauty and unique culture. It is also a riding paradise that is virtually untapped. For consumers from Arunachal Pradesh and the surrounding area only, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has created a special Jawa 42 Tawang Edition to honour this ethos of the area.

Mr. Tsering Tashi, MLA of Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, Mr. Sonam Chombay, Commissioner to the CM, and Mr. Oken Tayeng, Chairman – Adventure Tour Operator Association of India, NE Chapter introduced the limited-edition motorcycle at the Torgya Festival in Tawang. Select consumers received special edition motorcycles from the officials as well.

The Tawang Edition, which is based on the Jawa 42 Sports Stripe Allstar Black, is inspired by Lungta, a legendary wind horse. This horse appears in local legends and represents prosperity and good fortune. The motorcycle has a Lungta design on the fuel tank. It also has the design on the front fender as well as inscriptions that are localised across the body panels. To identify the motorcycles as special edition models, each is also given a distinctively numbered bronze medallion. With cross port technology for class-leading performance, the 293cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine on this motorcycle continues to produce 27.33 PS and 26.84 Nm of torque.

The Torgya festival offered an appropriate setting for the Tawang Edition’s debut. The Monpa community of Arunachal Pradesh celebrates this celebration in Tawang to usher in a happy and successful new year. The purpose of this celebration is to ward off energy from the soil that could otherwise harm people or create natural disasters. The festival takes place over two days in the picturesque Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh. It also comprises residents performing traditional dance and devotional rituals.
