Hero MotoCorp- India’s largest two wheeler manufacturer to strengthen its hold on the two wheeler market plans to launch not one or two, but a dozen models across various segments by March 2014. Off late Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India pipped Bajaj Auto to become the country’s second largest two wheeler manufacturer and has been aggressive launching economic and variants of its existing lineup such as the Dream Neo and the CB Trigger. It was but evident for Hero Motocorp to pull up its socks further after the discontinuation of their technological partnership in 2010. Despite slipping to third position Bajaj Auto too has been rolling out economical variants of the Discover model and the soon to be launched Pulsar 375 in the performance segment.
The good news here is that Mr. Pawan Munjal, MD and SEO stated that the company would be laying emphasis on the 150cc plus segment. From the recently published spy pictures of the facelift Karizma and ZMR under tests, it’s a certain possibility that we might get to see the Hero-EBR collaborated 250cc motorcycle very soon. Talking of other motorcycles in the 150cc and above bracket, it’s possible that Hero would continue to use the tried and tested engine of the Unicorn doing duty in a tweaked tune on the CBZ Xtreme and the Hunk to power the upcoming models in the segment.
Mr. Munjal seemed excited on prospects of the festive season which we feel should see the launch of the facelifted Karizma and the ZMR.
