Chevrolet Enjoy Lucknow

Chevrolet Enjoy to be launched soon

As I keep on saying, the MPV segment in India is getting hotter by every passing day. Nissan recently launched the Evalia, Mahindra has come up with the Mini Xylo, nay, the Quanto and the waiting period for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga almost extends into the next decade.

Another hot launch that is headed our way is that of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV that we first saw at the Auto Expo held in January. It is being said that the car maker plans to launch the Enjoy as soon as next month.

Chevrolet India is rigorously testing the Enjoy and the car was recently spotted by our friend Shivam Shahi at Lucknow!

Another Chevrolet Enjoy test  mule was spotted by Rushlane at Mumbai. Here are more details on the upcoming MPV-

One of the first things that you notice about the Chevrolet Enjoy is its length and conservative styling. As we reported earlier, the Enjoy has been jointly developed by GM and their Chinese partners Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). This new MPV is based on the Wuling CN100 a.k.a. Hongguang MPV. Enjoy should come with safety features like dual air bags, safety belts with load limiters, anti-lock brakes and tubeless tyres. The new Chevrolet Enjoy will sell alongside the company’s ageing but popular Tavera, and should come with an aggressive price tag of about Rs 6 lakh.

The interiors look like they have been borrowed from Pontiac’s 1990s rental car and we won’t be surprised if it comes to us with hard plastics and cheap fabric for seats. There seems to be ample space at the middle row and the long wheelbase should ensure reasonable room at the 3rd row too.

The seven seater people mover is expected to sell primarily in its diesel variant. It’ll be powered by Fiat sourced 1.3 liter mutijet engine, manufactured by GM at its Talegaon plant and branded as 1.3 XSDe. This is the same engine that is powering almost every other popular diesel car in India. The engine will be employed in its non VGT, 78 PS guise, the way it powers the Fiat Punto, Maruti Swift and the Indica Vista. Petrol option is expected to be offered in the form of a 1.4 liter unit with peak power output of 95PS.

  1. No VGT means….not a match to Ertiga…..!! Hope it does not suffer from lack of power while loaded. Will it be placed under Ertiga…?? GM can not offerd make this a dud as it is launching very very moderate products…hence the pricing has to be the pulling point.
