The wait for the BMW Motorrad G310R grows longer as latest reports suggest that the motorcycle will arrive sometime in 2018. As confirmed by Vikram Pawah, President. BMW India, the Company is working on “Adequate Retail Infrastructure” before launching the motorcycle. Pawah said, “We need to have an adequate retail infrastructure before it becomes available here.”
Previous report indicated that the launch of the motorcycle was delayed to Q4 of 2017 (January-March 2018) although the manufacturer didn’t clarify the reason behind the delay.
The G310R is BMW Motorrad’s entry-level motorcycle. It was seen on several occasions during its test runs in the country in recent past. The motorcycle will come equipped with a 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves and two overhead camshafts together with electronic fuel injection. The 80 mm bore and the 62.1 mm stroke develops a praiseworthy 34 hp of power at 9,500 rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm.
The G310R will be manufactured by TVS Motor Company in India. Local production would help BMW launch the motorcycle at highly competitive prices for the Indian market.
BMW G310R is very slow in launching to India, now days the motorbikes are adding up with many new features (e.g: LED lights, advanced designs, improved ergonomics, attractive instrument cluster with navigation as KTM Duke 390 etc – many other new features to explain). So BMW G310R might be a new Launch for BMW in India; with outdated features. Kindly gear up & amp; think over it.
By the time they launch in india people will lose interest in it and the market will be more heated up with much stiffer competition and technology.
Will somebody notify about the GS310S also.. more eager to know about that!!
They probably could have launched in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata , Pune and Hyderabad. The retail infrastructure could easily be adequate in these places.
On the other hand the quality of Honda and Suzuki service centres for bikes in these cities is really pathetic. So may be BMW is right to wait and get the right partners who could provide the high quality service spaces.
Harley took some years before getting right partners in Delhi.
Right now people who do not want to wait for.another year may go.ahead and buy KTM or even Kawasaki bikes. They will have usually ( read bad) after sales service experience but they will have as good a ride experience as a.BMW, and a wider choice of trims.
