It has emerged that Bajaj Auto Ltd plans to showcase not one, not two but three new motorcycles at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014 in early February this year. It is being said that at least one of the three motorcycle concepts shown at the Expo will hit India’s bike market in 2014.

This revelation was made by Shyam Sundar Narayan, Marketing Manager, 2 Wheelers, BAL, Pune at the ‘Pulsar StuntMania’ organised in Coimbatore last evening. He hinted that the upcoming bikes would consist of super sports motorcycles, which would go on sale in 150cc + segments. He told that BAL has 47 per cent market share in 150 cc + segments  in India.

Currently, Bajaj Auto Ltd has a range of Pulsar models selling in the 135cc to 220cc category. Shyam Sundar Narayan said 51 per cent of bikers in performance bike segment are “upgraders” looking to buy even more powerful motorcycles. However, thanks to inflation and high interest rates, these bikers have been seen either postponing their purchase or settling for lower-capacity bikes.

He further added that BAL is looking to unveil a new line up of ‘Pulsars’ at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. While he didn’t reveal the details of these upcoming Pulsar models, there are good chances that these would be the highly awaited 200SS and 375 cc models. It is expected that the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS will be priced around INR 1.25 lakhs when it goes on sale in the country. The bigger Pulsar 375 on the other hand, would have a price of around INR 1.90 Lakhs.

For those who came in late, the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS is nothing but a fully faired Pulsar 200NS that would sport twin projector headlamps setup, a fuel injected engine, a tourer-friendly riding posture and all the features that are available on the 200NS.

The Bajaj Pulsar 375, as you would have expected, would be based on the KTM 390 Duke and much like the 200SS, would sport a full fairing. It is expected to open gates to an all-new segment of performance biking in India and will become the big daddy of all the Pulsars to have ever run on the tarmac!
