Thanks to China’s love for Long Wheel-Base (LWB) Versions of German sedans, Mercedes Benz has today unveiled the Long Wheelbase (LWB) version of the latest generation of the E Class at the ongoing Auto Shanghai 2013.

Similar to the scenario that we have in India, Mercedes Benz is being outsold by other German luxury carmakers in China. Mercedes is now betting big on the E Class facelift to revive its sales performance in Chinese car market. Other than having more rear leg room, and longer rear doors, the E Class facelift LWB is bog similar to the SWB model. The E Class facelift LWB can be differentiated from the outgoing model by its single unit headlamps, no pontoon styled rear fenders and other minor changes to the fascia.

The E Class LWB facelift will be offered in four engine variants –

E200L (184hp 1.8L turbocharged petrol engine)

E260L (204hp 1.8L turbocharged petrol engine)

E300L (231hp 3.0L V6 petrol engine)

E400L (333hp 3.5 V6 petrol engine)

The E Class LWB facelift gets a longer equipment list than the outgoing model. This list includes night vision assistance systems, DISTRONIC PLUS radar-based braking assistance program, BAS PLUS emergency brake assist, Active Blind Spot Assist system, Attention Assist system and lane departure warning system.
