Maruti Suzuki India has launched the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) option in top-end Alpha trim of Ignis. The model has been launched with a price tag of INR 7.01 lakh for the petrol variant and INR 8.08 lakh for the diesel variant (all prices, ex-showroom).
Launched in January 2017, the Ignis is built on a new platform embodying Suzuki Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) for occupant protection. The Ignis comes equipped with dual airbags, seatbelts with pre-tensioner force limiter and ABS with EBD as standard fitments. The model also gets ISOFIX Anchorage, a child seat restraint system, a delight for the premium urban car user, as standard equipment in all variants.
The Ignis is available with a petrol and diesel engine option. The 1.2-litre petrol unit produces 82 hp at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. The 1.3-litre diesel unit produces 74 hp at 4000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque 2000 rpm.
Speaking on the occasion, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), said, “Our premium urban compact vehicle Ignis has been created for millennials, a none of a kind brand in the Indian market. Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) on the Ignis, so far offered in the Delta and Zeta trims, has been widely appreciated by customers and accounts for 27% of Ignis sales. We are now offering AGS in the top trim as well – Ignis Alpha. We expect this to strengthen brand Ignis and enhance the popularity of AGS among millennials.”
