Lamborghini Urus to become a production reality

Added in: News

The Lamborghini Urus has been in news ever since the Audi group owned Italian supercar maker came out with the concept version of its second SUV last year. There have been many speculations regarding the production plans for the Urus. There has also been a section of auto enthusiasts who are of the opinion that the car would never become a production reality.

We reported when Audi CEO Rupert Stadler recently hinted that the Lamborghini SUV would get the go-ahead from the Volkswagen board by the end of this year and would be launched somewhere in 2017. Now, it has emerged that Lamborghini, during its 50th anniversary celebration in Italy, has once again made an official announcement that the Urus SUV has been confirmed for production. This means that the Lamborghini Urus does have good chances of entering the car industry in 2017

The Lamborghini Urus will be basically a modern day avatar of the LM002. The LM002 is the same rugged looking SUV from the supercar maker that is also known as the  Lambo-Rambo.

The new Urus will be underpinned by the next-generation MLB platform from the Volkswagen group. The MLB is the same platform that will be also seen underpinning the next generation of Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7. There are good chances that the production spec Urus might look a lot like the Urus Concept that we saw last year. Powering the Urus would be a set of turbocharged V8 engines coming from the VW group.
