Kawasaki introduces the sexy Z800: images, specs and all the details

Added in: News

Kawasaki is replacing its bestselling Z750 with this sexily mean Z800, to be available in two flavors – Z800 and Z800e. What’s the difference? Well, while the Z800, with its 806cc engine dishes out a yummy 111 bhp of power and 83 Nm of torque, the Z800e comes as a slightly toned down variant with 94 bhp and 76 Nm on tap.

Kawasaki have decided to make their European bestseller Z750 grow up, both in size and performance with this update. They may well have the Yamaha FZ8 within their crosshairs with this neat update. The Z750, which had a sleek, feminine air about it, gets a complete personality makeover with this update. The Z800 is one mean looking machine with a burly, chiseled tank and an angry frown on its face. The black green and chrome treatment on various panels is far more intricate and makes the new bike look way more premium and desirable than the bike it replaces.
With its larger displacement, the Z800 engine is claimed to offer better performance across the rev range, with sharper focus on lower to mid revs. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission, with short final gearing. A larger rear sprocket with 45 teeth lays more emphasis on acceleration than top speed. The engine also gets a bigger throttle body for better response under hard acceleration.

The chassis has been modified for better balance and communication for the rider. Upside down front forks, modified rear monoshock and a more neutral riding position further work towards making the Z800 a more rider friendly machine. Other changes include updated 4 piston – 310mm twin front discs, a futuristic full digital instrument cluister, LED tail-lamps and optional ABS.
The Z00 is expected to be priced in the same range as the Ninja 650R. While this naked streetfighter may not be as practical as its 650 cousin, it’s sexier for sure. Given a similar, or slightly higher price, there would be many takers for this green monster. Kawasaki were intent on bringing the Z750 here, with the new model that intent should only get stronger. We are already rubbing our palms in anticipation.
